Derived from the Greek word hoplon, which is an item of armor or equipment, hoplite can be roughly translated as "armored man". In the Hermetic sense, a hoplite is a powerful magus within the Order of Hermes that serves as an enforcer of the Hermetic Code. When a Wizards' March has been called for, it is the Hoplites of the Order who pursue and execute the offending wizard. Although not an official title, if a magus earns a reputation for assisting Quaesitores in the execution of their duties, he will generally become known as a hoplite.
